Portal Monitor
MS Sharepoint implementation is a rich tapestry of multiple systems all dependent on one another. From the Sharepoint application itself to SQL Server that holds all the information to Internet Information Server to Active Directory, proper monitoring and administration of a Sharepoint farm is a time consuming and costly affair. It also requires a significant investment into building a unique skills set.
There is no question about the monitoring and administation bieng necessary, in fact is is essential and when done properly can prevent number of potential issues. That is why we have built Portal Monitor, the first fully automated monitoring solution for Sharepoint farms.
How does it work?
Portal Monitor is in fact a whole suit of products including agents that constantly monitor various components of a SharePoint farm, a data warehouse where all the recorded information are stored, SharePoint-based dashboards for visualization of the collected data and an alerts mechanism for notifying the administrator about important changes to the farm.

Portal Monitor constantly monitors all of the components of a Sharepoint farm and records information about:
Availability
Portal Monitor records information about availability of every Sharepoint server, each individual service, every database and IIS site. It can automaticay calculate availability metrics and compare to your SLAs. read more
Storage
Portal Monitor constantly monitors all content databases both via Sharepoint and by talking to the SQL Server itself. It records and provides information about the size of databases as well as the actual size of data in them (which can differ greatly if the databases have been pre-grown). Potal Monitor records information over time so you can see how does the amount of data in your Sharepoint grow over time. It can also predict and warn you before you run out of space. read more
Audiences
Personalization is one of the key features of Sharepoint and Audiences are an important part of it. Of course the Audiences are only as good as the rules and the data that populate them. If for example a name of a group in Active Directory has been changed, Audiences in Sharepoint that rely on it would be rendered invalid. Portal Monitor watches over all Audiences and warns you about any changes that could have negative impact on them. It also talks to Active Directory and records any changes made there. read more
Content
Implementation of a portal usually comes hand in hand with decentralization of information control. Many users will be able to create new sites and populate them with content. While this provides many opportunities, it is also a challenge to the administrators. Portal Monitor is able to provide detailed information about content available in your Sharepoint and any changes made to it. read more
Traffic
Portal Monitor constantly communicates with Internet Information Server (or multiple instances of it if your farm contains more than one) and records information about traffic. Wealth of priceless reports is at your fingertips! read more
